Job Description

Render research support to research in the Crop Protection Division to ensure successful completion of projects on macadamia felted coccid and polyphagous shot hole borer.
Organise, conduct and monitor research experiments using technical and theoretical understanding.
Analyse and solve challenges encountered during experimental procedures utilising scientific knowledge.
Able to summarise experimental results and communicate experimental results with supervisor/project leader.
Record, analyse and interpret experimental data timeously according to reputable formats.
Proactively communicate with supervisor/project leader regarding key findings and critical problem areas.
Disseminate project results through peer-reviewed or popular publications and presentations at conferences.
Ensure dateline are met through effective distribution of tasks.

BSc or BTech in Entomology, Crop Protection or any other relevant qualification.
Previous experience with pests, especially pests on subtropical crops will be an advantage.
Knowledge of integrated pest and disease management will be an advantage.
Previous experience with planning of trial layout and statistical analysis of results will be an advantage.
Ability to do physical work in the field and laboratory.
Ability to liaise with researchers on project progress and participation pertaining to research activities.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Good communication skills both verbal and written.
Advanced computer literacy.
Valid driver's licence will be an added advantage.
