Research Technician: Analytical Services X2 Positions (1) One Year Fixed Term Contract)

Job Description

Collects, captures and processes data with basic analysis Provides verbal and written reports on activities and results. Conduct research support, diagnostics and other services under supervision. Perform routine soil analysis on ICP-OES and ICP-MS instrument and other laboratory instruments. Calibrate and maintain equipment. Maintain and update lab book and filling of raw data, and all reports for the project. Plan and coordinates own work activities aligned with project plans. Do trouble shooting on equipment and procedures used. Support capacity development and training of junior staff. Maintain work area and facilities clean. Adheres to quality standards Complies with SHE/OHS standards regulations and procedures Demonstrate measurable outcomes and project impact Provides input into the optimisation of new technologies.



National Diploma or Degree in Analytical Chemistry. 3 - 5 years' experience in water/plant and soil analysis methods. Performing routing analysis on ICP-OES, ICP-MS instrument, CHNS /LECO analyser instrument will be advantageous. Knowledge on how to process and interpret data from the instrument is important. Oversee and maintain the operations of the ICP-OES and ICP-MS instrument. Troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, calibration and doing minor repairs. Organizing workflow and ensuring that samples are tested in accordance with customer requests. Registration with relevant scientific registration body is an advantage. Computer literacy.
