To assist with the execution of occupational allergy and infectious disease-associated research, which forms part of the research and surveillance activities of the NaOH's Immunology & Microbiology Section
Location:
Bushbuckridge sub-district, Mpumalanga
Key performance areas:
Assist researchers with identifying research participants meeting the surveillance or research study case definitions
Assist the researchers with the collection of data from research participants meeting the research study criteria
Assist with preparing structured interviews and/or collecting, labeling, and storing samples from participants for research projects and health hazard evaluations (HHE)
Assist the researchers in obtaining informed consent from participants or their next of kin
Receive and courier research or HHE samples such as clinical or environmental
Trace results of investigations such as field measurements or laboratory tests
Assist with maintaining stocks and inventories of consumables
Prepare research-related documentation such as logs and HHE forms
Assist with different research laboratory procedures for specimen and media preparation in accordance with specific standard operating procedures
To attend research-related meetings to review the performance of the study team
File surveillance and research records on-site after data collection, according to the relevant protocol
Perform tasks assigned by the line manager, related to ongoing research programs
Assist with administrative duties, such as photocopying, preparation of ethics applications, and data entry from study questionnaires as requested by researchers
Adhere to established policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and environmental or infection control to ensure compliance
Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12
Required minimum work experience:
6 months of work experience in Research
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
Good communication skills
Attention to detail
Basic numeracy skills
Computer skills (MS Word and Excel)
Customer care
Listening skills
And Interpersonal skills
