A dynamic NGO dedicated to under-resourced youth and education across South Africa is seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic Head of Fundraising and Development to champion its mission. This pivotal role is for someone who can not only secure sustainable income but also inspire a movement. This role is 80%-90% fundraising related.
Your Mission
As the Head of Fundraising and Development, you'll be the architect of their financial future, ensuring they can continue to deliver transformative digital and entrepreneurial learning. You'll lead a multi-faceted approach, blending strategic fundraising with compelling communications and impactful partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Engagement: Spearhead a diversified fundraising strategy, targeting corporate, philanthropic, international, and government funders. You'll craft compelling proposals, nurture relationships with key donors, and manage a robust fundraising pipeline.
Strategic Partnerships & Communications: Identify and cultivate powerful alliances that amplify their reach and influence. You'll represent the Foundation at key events, co-develop strategic messaging, and collaborate on campaigns that elevate their brand and mission.
Programme Oversight and Innovation: Provide high-level strategic input into the design and refinement of their youth development programs, ensuring alignment with funder expectations and the evolving needs of the youth they serve. You'll monitor outcomes, surface success stories, and contribute to a scaling impact.
Requirements

  • A postgraduate degree in Development Studies, Public Policy, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations, or business development within the nonprofit or social impact sector.
  • A strong track record of securing multi-year funding from diverse sources.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, particularly in crafting high-impact proposals and reports.
  • A proven ability to build and manage strategic partnerships.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach, coupled with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience or interest in digital education, youth employability, or systemic change in South Africa or the Global South is a distinct advantage.
  • Full home office set up
  • Must reside in Cape Town or Johannesburg
  • Able to travel twice monthly to events and rural areas
