Job Description


LetsLink recruitment is currently seeking a Theatre Scrub Clinical Nurse to join the team of a private hospital in KwaZulu-Natal. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing individualized and holistic nursing care to patients, families, or the community. They coordinate patient care within a multi-disciplinary health team and use scientifically based nursing theories and processes to treat patients as physical, social, and spiritual individuals. The Clinical Nurse also uses educational and technical means applicable to healthcare practice.

The Clinical Nurse's duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting assessments, planning and implementing care
  • Evaluating and recording nursing care
  • Providing quality nursing care
  • Identifying problems and determining appropriate action
  • Actively participating as a team member
  • Actively participating in sustaining effective doctor, staff, and patient relationships
  • Ensuring high-quality work standards
  • Ensuring that high standards are maintained in the operating theatre rooms
  • Ensuring adherence and compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Ensuring that medical stock products are charged ethically and honestly
Education:
  • Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
  • Diploma in Operating Theatre Techniques
Work experience:
  • 3 years of experience in Cardio-thoracic surgery
  • Previous experience as a Theatre Scrub Nurse is essential
  • Experience in General Surgery, ENT, Eyes, Orthopaedics, General and Endoscopic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynea, Urology, Maxillo Facial and Reconstructive Surgery preferred
  • Skilled in all basic nursing procedures as well as procedures specific to the operating theatre environment
  • Strong quality patient care orientation with capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
Knowledge:
  • Thorough knowledge of specialized nursing theory and practice
  • Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the highly specialized field of intensive care nursing
