Job Summary

Title: Registered Nurse Theatre Scrub Experienced

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join the healthcare team as a Theatre Scrub Nurse. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality, cost-effective, and safe patient care in accordance with hospital standards and policies. This position will encompass both direct and indirect nursing care, involving the assessment, planning, execution, and supervision of patient care to meet their unique needs. As a role model in delivering evidence-based care, you will actively participate in Clinical Governance, ensuring that best practices are followed and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating theater.
• Ensure compliance with all accredited bodies and relevant health legislation, maintaining the highest standards of health practice.
• Utilize your expertise in surgical specialties, including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and general surgery.
• Ventilator experience is advantageous, but not mandatory.
• Apply your knowledge of scrubbing techniques and post-anesthetic recovery to enhance patient outcomes.

Education:

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse/Midwife or equivalent NQF 7 qualification.
• A Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing would be advantageous.

Work Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in the nursing discipline, particularly in an operating theater setting.
• Capacity to implement and maintain the standards of health practice required by accredited bodies and health legislation.
• Experience in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, or general surgery is highly desirable.
• Ventilator experience is advantageous.

Knowledge:

• Proficiency in scrubbing techniques.
• Familiarity with post-anesthetic recovery techniques.
