As the leading medical recruitment agency in South Africa, our client has an exciting opportunity for a Scrub Sister based in Uppington, South Africa. The Scrub Sister is to deliver expert nursing care to critically ill patients with intricate medical needs. With a focus on vigilant monitoring, administering medications, coordinating interdisciplinary care, and implementing advanced life support techniques, the nurse strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes and facilitate recovery within the challenging environment of the Operating Room.Responsibilities:
- Patient care and counseling
- Performs rostered weekend duties / emergency relief on call duties and associated tasks
- Provides safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors
- Utilizes supplies and equipment in an economical manner
- Co-operates and collaborates with other hospital departments to provide quality patient care
- Liaises with ward manager on matters relating to patient care
- Keeps accurate records at all times
- Required to serve on relevant committees within the department
- Supervises and evaluates quality of patient care through patient rounds
- Communicates with patient and family regarding patient care and informs Unit Manager of patient care problems
- Assists with the coaching of junior staff within the Unit
- To take responsibility of Theatre and cases on a daily basis where you are allocated
- Must be a Registered Nurse, registered with the South African Nursing Council.
- Must be in possession of a Diploma in Operating Room Technique.
- Previous experience in Theatre as a Scrub Sister in a multidisciplinary environment especially vascular.
- Have at least 3 years private hospital experience in Theatre as an Scrub Nurse
