Job Description


The Bargaining Council represents two employersxe2x80x99 organizations and two trade unions who are the Parties to the Council and administers a range of collective agreements concluded by the Parties. Operations cover a wide range of issues related to the promotion of labour peace and stability, social security funds, dispute resolution and related matters.

The Council is seeking to employ a Regional Manager for the Western Cape Region. The Western Cape region covers the Cape Peninsular, western coastal areas until Springbok and eastern coastal areas until Albertinia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Align the regional objectives to the national strategic objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Region.
  • Maintains communication regarding the collective agreement with establishments to
  • promote healthy industrial relations within region.
  • Manage external relationship of stakeholders.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that the registration of new establishments within a region occurs.
  • Host and attend regional and national management meetings.
  • Manage Human resources and ensure development of staff.
  • Manage Performance and conduct appraisals of staff.
  • Ensure the collection of returns through the management of regional credit control; and develop and manage regional budget.

  • Strong leadership ability and skills.

  • Above average verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to build strong effective relationships with all stakeholders, i.e., Parties of the Council, existing clients, and potential clients as well as internal stakeholders, i.e., colleagues, management, and staff;
  • Must have good decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have good analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Confidence and resilience.
  • Must take initiative.
  • Project management ability and above average report writing skills.
  • Excellent Information Technology skills.
  • Must have good financial budgeting skills; and
  • Must be able to conduct meetings.
Qualifications
  • Four (4) year relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years Collective Bargaining experience and knowledge, with at least 5 years business management experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the MIBCO Collective Agreement and Fund Agreements in a Bargaining Council will be an advantage; and
  • Must have experience of the Labour relations Legal framework.
  • Human resource and financial management experience required.
  • Performance management experience required.
  • Project management experience; and
  • Computer literate xe2x80x93 SAGE, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook required.
