Receptionist / Switchboard Operator – Luxury Wine Estate – Stellenbosch

Job Description
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for all guests and visitors to the estate. They will be responsible for managing incoming calls, directing enquiries, and ensuring smooth communication between departments. This is a highly visible and guest-facing role that also includes guiding guests across the estate and supporting the overall guest journey.
Key responsibilities include:
Warmly welcoming and assisting guests on arrival and departure
Offering estate information and conducting guided tours for guests
Managing all incoming calls via the switchboard and directing them appropriately
Maintaining accurate bookings, reservations, and guest records
Liaising with security and other departments to ensure seamless operations
Updating internal communications and directories
Communicating daily reservation updates to relevant departments
Logging and handing over lost property to the security team
Proactively addressing guest queries and concerns, ensuring exceptional service

1-2 years' experience in a similar receptionist or switchboard role preferred
Professional telephone etiquette and excellent customer service skills
Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Presentable, well-spoken, and confident in engaging with high-profile guests
Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Team player with a positive and enthusiastic personality
Willingness to work hospitality hours, including weekends and public holidays
