Job Description


RPO POSITION OVERVIEW: As the RPO, your primary responsibility is to ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, as defined by the South African Hazardous Substances Act No. 15 of 1973 (in terms of Group IV Hazardous Substances), SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) and other associated Radiation Control related regulations (IAEA, IATA, etc). This includes strict control of processing, handling, and logistics (transportation and associated) of radioactive materials. REPORTING STRUCTURE Report to the SHEQ Manager (a 10-month transition period is envisioned for knowledge transfer, as the present RPO is retiring within the next year). KEY OUTPUTS: 1. Ensuring adherence to and maintaining all regulatory and legal compliance requirements associated with Radiation Control (including but not limited to): - Isotope disposals - Isotope temporary safe storage requirements - Application to export isotopes outside SA - Application to import isotopes from outside SA - Application by a client for new isotope - Source refurbishments, re-housing & modification - Radiation emergency and reporting procedures - Isotope loan to a client - Change of RPO / ARPO details - Safe handling & control of isotopes - Processing of all SAHPRA applications (Eg.RN525, RN526, RN781, RN782, RN787, RN788, RN785) on behalf of clients. - Control and monitoring of SABS Radiation Badges and associated radiation results - Ensure compliance with the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material - Maintain and renew the business stock, convey, and demo/use authorities with SAHPRA - Control of Access, Internal Movements, Monitoring & Measuring of Radioactive Isotopes - Facilitating the leak test procedure and issuing of leak test certificates - Check & verify isotope data for all movements, against applicable procedures & records. - Completion and timely submission of a monthly isotope report to SAHPRA - Conducting annual audited Stock Take of Isotopes - Monthly compliance inspections and verifications (Production and Technical work areas, Isotope Storage and Loading Facility, and all associated documents and records). 2. Regular, consistent, and accurate communications with SAHPRA in order to keep PAxe2x80x99s isotope database as live / up to date as possible, and to expedite the issuance of authorities for PA customers. 3. Costing and requisitions for procurement of new/stock isotopes from international suppliers. Ensure isotopes are imported in accordance with the regulatory & legal compliance requirements. 4. Radiation Control process and system improvements - compiling / reviewing / updating of Radiation Control related ISO / Company documentation, to continually align with regulatory and legal compliance requirements. 5. Liaising with and addressing customer / branch / Sales / Engineering queries (customer support) on a regular basis, with regards to isotopes / radiation and associated SAHPRA and PA processing. 6. Liaising with SAHPRA and expediting on a regular basis for authorities and customer queries etc. 7. Real time monitoring, updating and maintenance of the PA Isotope Forecast List / Isotope Stock List & Order Allocations / Isotope database, to ensure effective and efficient isotope stock control. KEY COMPETENCIES - Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills. - Excellent command and comprehension of spoken and written English. - Excellent customer support and customer service skills. - Function effectively under pressure and have exceptional organisational / planning skills. - Show initiative and have good time management. - Self-motivated individual and be able to function with a minimal amount of supervision. - Meticulous attention to detail. - Good knowledge and experience in Microsoft 365 and Share Point - Work well in a team environment, as well as individually. - Strict confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations are of utmost importance due to the sensitive nature of the work QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Matric / Grade 12 required. - At least 3-5 years work experience in an administration and / or customer support role required. - ERP (Epicor) knowledge and understanding required. - Overview and understanding of SAHPRA Radiation Control and South African Hazardous Substances Act 1973 will be advantageous. - Overview and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act will be advantageous. - Radiation Safety awareness and training will be advantageous. - A technical background (understanding/experience/qualifications) will be advantageous. - A valid drivers license is required. - A clear criminal record is required. Job Type: Full-time Salary: R24,000.00 - R25,000.00 per month Ability to commute/relocate:
