Quality Supervisor (fmcg)

Job Description


One of our long-standing clients, situated in Muizenberg in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, is an international and fast-growing food manufacturing facility which operates under extreme food safety conditions and standards.

The company is looking for a Quality Supervisor to work as part of the supervisory team in the Quality Department. The ideal candidate has experience in the FMCG industry. The job incumbent will supervise the Quality Coordinators and Quality Assistants reporting to them, and will report to the Quality Manager.

Duties:

  • Adhering to and maintaining food safety, health, quality and hygiene standards at all times
  • Adhering to and implementing standard operating procedures
  • Overseeing and supervising the activities and HR administration of the Quality Coordinators and Quality Assistants
  • Engaging in stand-in duties for Quality Coordinators when necessary: paste sampling, raw materials and packaging materials sampling and environmental sampling
  • Overseeing GMP inspections done by Quality Coordinators: packing room, blending room, bulk bag and vitamin room, raw materials, finished goods stores, premises
  • Verifying all quality documentation received as well as the traceability of records across all stages of the manufacturing process
  • Raising non-conformances, compiling deviation reports and monitoring the implementation of corrective actions based on non-conformances and deviation reports
  • Aiding the Assistant Quality Manager with preparation of documentation and samples for internal audits
  • Tracking and trending of deviations, non-conformances and other relevant data to be reported to the Assistant Quality Manager
  • Monitoring Quality Coordinators doing verifications of various documentation types as well as high- and medium-risk areas: Packing Room verifications, X-Ray Room verifications, batch preparation sheets, raw materials dispensing records, pouch and carton date verifications, etc.
  • Overseeing the handover of the end-of-shift reports
  • Overseeing the completion and accurate record-keeping of all sampling documentation (records and electronic)
  • Maintaining all housekeeping standards at all times
  • Providing reasonable ad-hoc assistance as necessary
Requirements:
  • BTech / BSc degree: Food Science / Consumer Science / Food technology / relevant qualification or experience equivalent to a formal qualification (at least 3 years)
  • At least two yearsxe2x80x99 experience working an FMCG environment / food industry
  • Expanded knowledge of the Food industry and Standards in South Africa (e.g. HACCP, ISO, FSSC)
  • Experience and/or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Computer literate (MS Office, especially Excel and ERP systems: D365, i-Comply)
  • Supervisory / team leader / people management experience
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent administrative record-keeping and filing (manual / electronic)
  • High attention to detail, organised and systematic
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts
