Purpose of the role:
The PR and Social Media Specialist is responsible for developing and executing effective public relations and social media strategies to enhance the brand visibility, reputation, and engagement of Eduvos, a leading higher education institution. This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for storytelling, a keen understanding of social media trends, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and the academic community.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum qualifications required:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum experience required:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in PR and social media management, preferably in the higher education sector.
Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
Established network of media contacts in the higher education sector.
Familiarity with SEO and content marketing strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
As the PR and Social Media Manager you will be primarily responsible for the following:
Public Relations
Develop and implement comprehensive PR strategies that align with the institution's goals and values.
Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other PR materials.
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers to secure media coverage.
Coordinate and manage media inquiries and interview requests.
Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports on PR activities and outcomes.
Organize and promote press events, conferences, and media tours.
Social Media Management
Create and manage engaging content for the institution's social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
Develop and execute social media campaigns to support marketing initiatives, events, and institutional announcements.
Monitor social media trends, audience behavior, and platform updates to optimize content strategy.
Engage with the online community, responding to comments, messages, and reviews in a timely and professional manner.
Analyze social media metrics and generate reports to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and inform future strategies.
Content Creation
Collaborate with the marketing team to produce high-quality, multimedia content (e.g., blog posts, videos, infographics) that resonates with the target audience.
Ensure all content aligns with the institution's brand voice and messaging.
Work with faculty, staff, and students to source and create compelling stories and testimonials.
Crisis Communication
In partnership with the Head of Marketing and Communications team, support crisis communication plans to protect and manage the institution's reputation.
In partnership with the Head of Marketing and Communications team, act as a key point of contact during crises, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to disseminate accurate and timely information.
Collaboration and Coordination
Work closely with the marketing team and PR agency to ensure PR and social media efforts are integrated with broader marketing strategies.
Collaborate with other departments, including alumni relations, and academic programs, sales and student affairs to support their communication needs.
