Psychologist Recruitment - Relocate from South Africa to Ireland

Position: Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Educational)

Location: Ireland

About the Role:

Are you a passionate and qualified psychologist in South Africa looking to take your career international? We are hiring entry-level and senior-level Psychologists to join healthcareservices across Ireland. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment where your expertise will have a positive impact on children and families.

The successful psychologist will have a primary focus on conducting paediatric assessments including Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) Assessments (ADIRs).

Reporting to the Principal Psychologist, successful psychologist will play a key role in delivering impactful psychological support.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver psychological paediatric assessments and therapeutic intervention

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement client-focused treatment plans.

Contribute to service development through paediatric assessments policy input.

Maintain records and uphold ethical standards in line with Irish professional guidelines.

To be responsible for the carrying out of Assessments and working with other clinicians to determine outcome and results. Attend an MDT meeting to discuss findings, recommendations and complete the Summary Report. Lead the assessment process through MDT and Clinical Governance Feedback.
Eligibility Criteria:

Entry-Level Applicants Must Have:

A university degree in Psychology with at least 1st or 2nd class honours (equivalent to QQI Level 8).

A recognised (doctoral or equivalent) postgraduate qualification in Counselling psychology

OR

Recognised postgraduate qualification in Clinical/Educational Psychology

Educational Psychology recognized by a professional body such as the Psychological Society of South Africa (PSSA).

A minimum of 60 days supervised clinical placement in relevant care settings.

Ability to demonstrate competencies in your chosen specialty area (e.g., clinical, educational, or counselling).

Senior-Level Applicants Must Also Have:

At least five years post-graduate experience, including a minimum of two years post-qualification professional practice.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capacity.

Additional Requirements for Practicing in Ireland:

Recognition of non-Irish qualifications is essential for employment in the public sector (e.g., HSE or HSE-funded roles). Your qualifications will be assessed under Directive 2005/36/EC or via a national process if outside the EEA.

You must submit documentation confirming your entitlement to practice as a psychologist in South Africa (HPCSA)

Placements or professional experience must align with Irish standards. This includes:

Clear documentation of training placements (including client groups, supervision, duration).

At least 120 days of supervised placements for educational psychologists, with specific distribution across education levels.
