Project Manager (training Programme Implementation)

About the Role

We are rolling out a complex, donor-funded training programme in 2026 and are looking for a hands-on Project Manager who can manage delivery and actively support implementation, not just oversee tasks.

This project involves the training of learners across South Africa who will be trained remotely and attend a short workplace internship. The project has tight timeline, multiple stakeholders and strict funder reporting requirements.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured delivery in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, and who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves when things get busy.

The project runs from February to July. If delivery is successful, the project may be repeated and rolled out across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

Own the end-to-end project plan, timeline, milestones and dependencies Track progress across multiple workstreams and escalate risks early Ensure delivery aligns with funder timelines, budgets and contractual obligations Maintain clear documentation, schedules and decision logs
Implementation Support (Hands-On)

Support the onboarding of new lecturers and third-party providers Coordinate course setup, schedules, learner communications and assessments Assist with learner tracking, attendance monitoring and issue resolution Support exam registrations, logistics and results coordination Step in to unblock operational issues where needed
Stakeholder & Partner Coordination

Act as the central point of coordination between internal teams, lecturers, training providers and the exam body Manage expectations and ensure alignment across all parties Prepare updates and progress reports for internal leadership and the Finnish funder
Quality, Compliance & Reporting

Ensure programme delivery meets quality, compliance and contractual requirements Assist with funder reporting, evidence gathering and audit-ready documentation Track outputs, outcomes and key delivery metrics
Required Experience & Skills

Essential:

4-7 years' experience in project management, preferably in education, training, skills development, donor-funded or multi-partner projects Proven experience managing complex projects with multiple external stakeholders Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams and learners Confident communicator (written and verbal) Ability to work under pressure and adapt in fast-moving environments
Highly Advantageous:

Experience in training projects Exposure to online / blended learning programmes Experience coordinating exams, certifications or professional qualifications Formal PM qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or similar) Experience in youth development or skills programmes
Working Arrangement

Hybrid role: primarily remote, with occasional in-office days in Cape Town Some flexibility required during peak delivery periods
