Job Summary:
The Project Manager - Civil Construction is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering civil construction projects such as roads, earthworks, pipelines, structures, and infrastructure developments. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering..
  • Professional registration with ECSA or SACPCMP (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in civil construction project management.
  • Experience as both a consultant and contractor.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale civil construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, GCC).
  • Proficient in MS Project, Primavera, Excel, or any construction management software.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Project Planning & Execution: Plan, manage, and execute civil construction projects from inception to completion. Develop detailed project programmes, construction schedules, and work plans. Coordinate resources, labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Prepare and manage project budgets and cost forecasts. Monitor expenditure, variations, and claims. Approve project-related costs in line with approved budgets. Ensure profitability and cost efficiency on projects.
  • Site and Construction Management: Oversee daily site operations and ensure construction activities meet design specifications. Manage site managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors. Ensure effective site coordination and productivity.
  • Health, Safety and Quality: Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Implement and enforce project-specific HSE plans and quality management systems. Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Contract and Stakeholder Management: Manage contracts, subcontract agreements, and supplier relationships. Liaise with clients, consulting engineers, municipalities, and regulatory authorities. Attend site meetings, progress meetings, and technical reviews. Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit progress reports, cost reports, and schedules to management and clients. Maintain accurate project documentation, records, and site files. Ensure project close-out documentation is completed.
