Job Description


Main purpose of the job:

  • The project intern will work in close collaboration with the TBAC (TB Accountability Consortium) Project Officer in giving administrative and advocacy communications support
Location:
  • Rural Health Advocacy Project - Rosebank, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
  • Develop, design, and edit social media material as and when needed
  • Write up and or post short stories on the TBAC website
  • Writing of reports
  • Staying up to date with current affairs, relevant events, and policies in the field
  • Live post and schedule posts across social media platforms in line with communication strategy and implementation plan
  • Assist in the research and creation of news analysis articles and OPEDs
  • Give administrative support to the Project Officer in coordination of consortium partnerships (e.g. Meeting minutes, consortium documents, partners database)
  • Participate in consortium partnership processes or those that are developed during the internship
  • Perform any stakeholder relations activity required to support these partnerships
Required minimum education and training:
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree in Social Science or Communications or Public Heath
Required minimum work experience:
  • Research experience in the context of studies towards a Bachelorxe2x80x99s Degree
  • Has an understanding of Public Health Policy (Communicable Diseases), Current Affairs, and Social Media
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in rural health settings, e.g., have lived in or worked in a rural area
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficient in social media platforms (Facebook, X, TikTok)
  • Proficiency in Canva or other graphics software is desirable
  • Ability to speak to people from different walks of life
  • Good writing skills (social media posts, website posts, policy brief analysis for social media, etc.)
  • Passionate about rural health and increasing access to health services for rural communities
  • Sincere commitment to social justice and health advocacy
  • Works well in a team and eager to grow and learn
