An exciting opportunity exists in the NXTGEN department to develop and manage projects related to new products, services and solutions. The role will take the lead in the project management process on development projects against scope, safety, time, quality, cost and productivity standards and will also facilitate the integration of new technologies into the operational divisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Project identification and development
Assist the Line Manager and other relevant Manager's to identify appropriate technology or practice development opportunities within strategic offerings of the Group.
Develop and drive an engagement approach for the identified opportunities.
Compile the internal project charters, user specification requirements and project framework submissions for internal approval.
Compile and maintain a project register of all projects with a close out report for each.
Consultant/Supplier Management
Develop and maintain relationships with Consultants and Suppliers who support the NXTGEN development projects.
Follow a structured request for proposal basis and authorisation process compliant to FA policies.
Compile all required consultant / supplier scopes of work.
Business Functional Management
Executing projects to support sustainability of the broader business, including reputation and meeting industry and market requirements.
Ensure compliance and adherence to standards, policies, procedures, practices and legislative requirements at all levels, identify gaps, and implement approved improvements throughout the project operations.
Contribute to organisational effectiveness through developing resources and knowledge management through project delivery.
Ensure business initiatives and continuous improvement is implemented on projects.
Project Management
Plan and set up projects according to internal development requirements, as well as considering best practice and standards for projects and ensure projects are executed within budget, scope, timeless, productivity and SHEQ standards.
Where applicable, ensure logistics, materials and supplies are managed within appropriate cost, quality and quantity standards, for optimised delivery.
Ensure appropriate project risk management assessments are done, and mitigating actions are identified and executed, in conjunction with the risk department.
Ensure the project close-out is planned and executed appropriately.
Ensure a continuous improvement culture, system and processes are implemented on the project, and drive results accordingly.
Maintain a project register as well as a monthly status update and attend monthly meetings.
Management Lines/Project Teams
Management of internal and external support services in the execution of the task requirements.
Mentor any internal personnel to better deliver on their roles and responsibilities.
Provide technical and project support to the NXTGEN team and the broader FA Group where involved.
Technical Management
Oversee the quality control for all aspects of projects under their management.
Alignment to the relevant FA internal quality management system/s.
Monitor and report on all risks.
Action plans to mitigate all risks.
Report on technical/service/ quality/project compliance.
Standards: Identify, develop and specify internal project management.
Project/technical engineering assistance for NXTGEN team and the broader FA Group where involved.
Project/technical vision and supervision.
SHEQ Management
Ensure that any NXTGEN project site and any applicable operational practices are fully compliant to SHEQ requirements, policies, legislation and systems.
Balance strategic, legislative, client and operational requirements for environmental management, while ensuring strict compliance throughout the project.
Ensure that all SHEQ risks are identified, mapped, mitigation actions agreed and implemented throughout the project
QUALIFICATIONS
B. Sc./B. Tech. in an Engineering field (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Industrial).
Project Management Degree or Diploma will be advantageous
EXPERIENCE
At least 5-8 years relevant experience in project and/or product development; project management; contract management; risk management; project resources management.
