Roles and Responsibilities
Production

• Manage, report and coordinates the activities of the plant to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met or exceeded
• Ensures all machinery in the plant are in perfect working condition
• Support the Quality and Food Safety Management System implementation and maintenance.
• Assist in resolving identified quality out of specification issues, as well as food safety hazards in the plant.
• Communicate and Adhere to hygiene Code of conduct and Integrated Management systems Policies
• Communicates and disseminates information among production staff
• Leads problem solving sessions to solve production, quality and safety issues
• Monitors machine parts if required, production supplies and production equipment to maintain their good working order
• Recognises waste streams and minimises waste generation through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation
• Understands emergency procedures, equipment, and systems, and is able to implement contingency plans
• Works to reduce waste, spoilage and downtime
• Creates, implements and ensures adherence to shift schedule. Shift schedule will include work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
• Reviews shift schedules to ensure optimisation of set up changes
• Coordinates production start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers

Quality Control and Assurance

• Evaluates products to ensure compliance with established quality control standards. Makes adjustments as necessary during shifts to ensure products are in line with specifications
• Supports the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the integrated and food safety systems

Health Safety and Environment

• Maintains a safe and secure work environment by correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating safety meetings, looking out for hazards, and investigating accidents
• Ensures plant policies and procedures, job safety analysis, and standard operating procedures are adhered to
• Implements and maintains 5s work culture

People Management

• Manage Production Technicians and Shift Supervisors, and ensures the quality of work meets with performance expectations
• Assigns tasks and responsibilities to the Production Technicians and Shift Supervisors to ensure effective workflow
• Reviews/inspects work carried out by subordinates
• Recognises training needs and facilitates the on-the-job training and development of subordinatesxe2x80x99 skills to ensure a continued high level of production and morale
• Conducts employee performance reviews
• Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels

Inherent Requirements


Required Education

• Minimum of a Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Required Experience

• Minimum of 7 yearsxe2x80x99 experience, 5 of which must be in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
• Minimum of 3 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in a supervisory role
