Job Description

Our client in the manufacturing and engineering industry is looking for a Production Engineer to join their department in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

• Receive work orders and preparing required equipment and resources for production.
• Ensuring that daily production plan is communicated to supervisors and that supervisors efficiently.
• Execute the production plan according to customer specifications.
• Ensure daily targets are met, including output, quality and compliance targets.
• Apply problem solving techniques to overcome daily operational challenges.
• Ensure all resources, including operators are optimally utilized.
• Ensure that all SAP notifications are up to date and correctly logged.
• When overtime is required, ensure that it is efficiently and properly managed.
• Ensure that all controls are performed during production processes and where required, that all work performed are within operating parameters.
• Notify quality department for controlling the conformity of product after each production process.
• Ensure all breakdowns are communicated expeditiously to maintenance department.
• Arrange cleaning and maintenance of production equipment.
• Maintain proper discipline on shop floor and ensuring that all processes and procedures are adhered.
• Work closely with Maintenance department to ensure quick actions are taken in the case of breakdowns.
• Work closely with Quality department to ensure inspections are up to date and that defects are resolved speedily.
• Ensure the development of team to build towards the multi-skilling of members.
• Participate in all internal processes, relevant to the position, including but not limited to interviews, audits and disciplinary procedures.
• Ensure proper communication with team, including holding Green Area meetings daily.
• Promote inter departmental teamwork between self and peers, and amongst team members.
• Contribute to a positive team environment.

• Must have good communication skills (both written and verbal).

• Must be able to maintain discipline and compliance.
• Ability in producing accurate reports.
• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
• Ability for working with cross functional disciplines.

• Must be flexible and willing to work irregular hours.
• Must be able to work in a pressurized environment.
• National Diploma Mechanical Engineering (minimum).
• B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage.

• Dependant on experience and qualification.
