Role Description

A dynamic marketing & distribution company is looking for a Product Owner who will be responsible for leading and motivating a diverse portfolio of healthcare and employee benefit insurance products. The Product Owner will be responsible for maximising the value of a product portfolio, assuming full ownership of effective product and product range management, including sales, retention, operations, stakeholder management, strategic planning and execution through extensive industry knowledge, ongoing market research, and new business development.

The ideal candidate is expected to have extensive industry-specific knowledge, solid product and team management skills and strong sales experience. The Product Owner will be required to develop and implement development, structure, and execute sales and retention strategies, monitor sales performance, and provide support and guidance to a team of business and corporate development consultants.

Responsibilities

Strategy development & execution: Alignment to organisational strategy and objectives,

Growth: Market penetration and/or revenue,

Target Management: Closely monitor and manage production towards product-specific targets

Product positioning: Enhance product value, positioning and execution,

Maintain a productive environment: Manage an environment with a growth-orientated focus on quality, stability, and value,

Manage improvement and innovation across product range,

Competitor benchmarking, market analyses, industry knowledge,

Partnership relationships & negotiation,

Service alignment,

Organisational alignment: Align product to broader organisational goals, strategies, and constraints,

Sales strategy: Develop a sales strategy to achieve value quickly and adapt to internal and external changes,

Network development: Strong networking & relationship development skills,

Capacity management: Work with operations and sales teams to ensure consistent and enhanced service delivery outcomes,

Compliance: Manage product compliance across all products to ensure alignment and reduce avoidable risk,

Analyses: Market and Industry Analysis,

Target audience analysis: Identify the target markets and tailor value proposition delivery accordingly,

Competitive analysis: Determine alternative solutions, products, or threats that affect industry positioning.

Experience Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in the financial services, healthcare, rewards, and employee benefits industries

Proven track record of delivering growth-focussed results

Established background in managing teams, build networks, manage stakeholder relationships and high degree of proficiency in managing, developing, and selling a range of integrated solutions

In-depth knowledge of products, regulations, sales, and retention methodologies

Previous Rewards or loyalty programme management, or at least as part of a team who specialised in loyalty & Rewards programmes

Develop and launch Rewards programmes in support of client/member retention and new business attraction strategies

Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification, e.g., a BCom or Business Administration degree

Post-graduate or MBA will be advantageous

RE5 regulatory industry qualification, RE1 will be advantageous
