Job Description


The purpose of this role is to develop and implement a procurement strategy for the assigned category of commodities, ensuring efficient and effective procurement processes while adhering to safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree or National Diploma in Commerce, Law, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with a preference for at least 2 years of managerial experience.
Responsibilities:
Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ):
  • Identify and assess risk exposures.
  • Apply risk mitigation and control measures.
  • Ensure SHEQ compliance within the Section.
  • Utilize the Integrated Management System (IMS) for SHEQ reporting.
People Management:
  • Cultivate an enabling work culture.
  • Maintain labor stability and minimize turnover.
  • Align labor complement with the budget.
  • Achieve HDSA/Female targets.
  • Manage performance against targets and competencies.
  • Implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) linked to performance.
  • Conduct quarterly career discussions.
  • Enforce discipline and address issues such as absenteeism and misconduct.
  • Provide coaching and counseling to improve performance.
  • Conduct recruitment interviews.
Customer Relations:
  • Foster and enhance relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure satisfaction among customers and suppliers.
  • Interact with customers to understand operational concerns.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels between customers and suppliers.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints.
Business Processes:
Category Management:
  • Manage all procurement-related activities within the assigned commodity category.
  • Implement strategic sourcing initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Identify, implement, and maintain relevant commodity contracts.
  • Achieve targeted cost savings through effective vendor negotiation.
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of supply markets, competitors, and innovations.
  • Facilitate procurement change initiatives to enhance business performance.
Vendor Management:
  • Oversee vendor rationalization strategy within the assigned category.
  • Manage vendor selection, compliance, and performance.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Build strong relationships with both internal and external customers to enhance their experience.
Contract Management:
  • Manage all contracts within the assigned category throughout their lifecycle.
  • Handle terminations, renewals, extensions, and re-assignments.
  • Identify and manage risks in collaboration with the cross-functional contracting team (Finance, Legal, Business Units, Maintenance Engineering).
Innovation:
  • Identify innovative procurement solutions that drive efficiency within the organization.
Management Support:
  • Conduct procurement analyses and reporting to assist management in tracking and achieving departmental targets.
  • Provide mentorship to Procurement Specialists and Contract Practitioners.
Growth:
  • Drive continuous improvement through operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements within the Procurement pipeline.
  • Increase BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) spend.
  • Initiate Enterprise Development and Preferential Procurement opportunities.
Shareholder Value:
  • Manage the Section's costs.
  • Ensure compliance with Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Protect company assets.
  • Reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and establish a competitive advantage through proactive procurement.
