Job Description

Purpose and Responsibilities The Procurement Manager has a significant contribution to the value creation for company Services. The support of optimum production processes, in particular on-time availability of procured materials, is a key deliverable of the role. Similarly fulfilment of required quality, OTD and optimized cost are major requirements. The position comprises close coordination with the Regional Procurement, the local management team and all Category Managers. The Procurement Manager is responsible for the planning, executing, and finalising purchasing and procurement strategies for spend across company organization. This includes acquiring resources within budget and facilitating communication between company and its providers in order to deliver products and services according to plan. The Procurement Manager supports the further development of the international purchasing organization at company as well as the procurement localisation in line with BBBEE requirements, based on experience and knowledge. Responsible to lead the procurement team in Africa, the Procurement Manager controls the procurement processes, leads supplier management and development activities. Manages the procurement controlling. Supports global sourcing activities and must ensure a sustainable and cost-effective supply. Main tasks and responsibilities Responsibility for the procurement activities of all direct materials and defined indirect materials in SPZA Management of SPZA policies and procedure regarding the purchase of goods and services, adhering to finance department procedures and SPZA standards of purchasing. Management of the local team of buyers and procurement team. Alignment and challenging of commodity strategies with category managers and the Management Team Support the coordination of procurement optimization activities across South Africa Support purchasers in the optimization of procurement costs Procurement controlling for SPZA Support supplier management and development Expediting order requirements with suppliers to ensure that supply meets client requirements, and that vendor or shipment problems are dealt with. Progressing on time delivery of procured items with suppliers. Management of key supplier relationships for factored items, raw materials and services, introducing KPIs where appropriate. Liaison with operational and quality control personnel to ensure purchasing requirements support overall company objectives at pre-award stage of procurement process. Liaison with commercial, tendering, scheduling and production departments at pre-order stage to ensure that purchasing requirements are in line with client expectations and meet project milestones. Drive the team of buyers to ensure all suppliers deliver components & equipment in alignment with the RFC and agreed client delivery dates. Liaison with procurement councils to ensure common approach to joint suppliers. Attendance at key production meetings Liaison with upstream processes as required on prospects and live sales orders. Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement. Remain accountable for the health, safety and welfare of their departmental workforce. Ensure compliance to systems and procedures developed for the health and safety of the workforce and environmental protection Ensure that Safe Systems of Work are developed and implemented for all activities, through risk assessment and operating procedures Visibly lead EH&S improvement through observation, intervention and workplace tours. Develop, implement and maintain SD&L development objectives for compliance to company objectives. Drive BBBEE transformation for the business related to enterprise development and supplier development, relating to preferential procurement without increasing costs or reducing quality. All other duties relevant to the role. Employee Development Mentoring, directing, motivating, supervising and monitoring the performance of all members of the allocated team. Responsibility for operational staffs appraisals in accordance with local policy. Responsibility for staff development and training ensuring this is aligned to the business requirements. Continuous Improvement Support and drive the continuous improvement process for operational issues. Management of Operational non-conformances through respective teams - reporting, trend analysis and RCA for preventative and corrective action. Participation in the development & implementation of best practice across the SPZA region. Develop Lean principles within all areas of your department.
Qualifications/Experience and Knowledge Required Technical or commercial qualification Significant experience of working in an international matrix organization Significant management experience in the procurement of an engineering company Proven skills in supply chain management, supplier development, Excellent leadership, management and technical skills Strong negotiation skills Analytical skills and structured work Excellent communication skills, motivation and a high level of personal responsibility Good MS Office skills and knowledge of relevant IT solutions, in particular SAP Measured by: (Key performance measurements) Individual KPIs (EMEA and local targets) OTD and quality of supplies Cost development for SPZA Financials Adherence to agreed standard operational suite of KPIs Quality performance Completion of reports in line with set deadlines
