The Process Operator is responsible for operating packaging machines and equipment to achieve production output targets safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. This role ensures adherence to quality standards, compliance requirements and good manufacturing practices.
Focus Area 1
Safety
Comply with the OHS Act and all site safety regulations
Report unsafe conditions, practices or incidents promptly
Use appropriate PPE and follow waste segregation requirements
Participate in safety initiatives, toolbox talks and compliance programmes
Adhere to safe work practices and procedures at all times
Focus Area 2
Operations
Ensure efficient operation of packaging machinery to achieve production KPIs
Verify machine readiness prior to start-up
Operate machinery as per SOPs, including start-up, shutdown and changeovers
Attend pre-shift meetings and conduct effective shift handovers
Maintain high housekeeping standards in area of responsibility
Provide feedback regarding equipment performance and material usage
Monitor and control process variables, contributing to waste management and efficiency
Willingness to assist with related tasks outside normal packaging scope where required
Support and drive manufacturing excellence initiatives on the shop floor
Focus Area 3
Maintenance
Conduct first-line maintenance and escalate machine faults where necessary
Perform autonomous maintenance activities
Follow safety procedures, asset care standards and maintenance protocols
Focus Area 4
Quality
Adhere to food safety procedures as per factory standards
Conduct timely quality checks on packaging processes
Monitor quality parameters to ensure product standards are achieved
Execute Food Safety and Quality tasks in line with FSMS and QC requirements
Requirements of the Role
Matric Certificate (Maths & Physical Science advantageous)
Technical Qualifications (N3, N4, N5 or N6) will be an added advantage
Minimum 4 years' experience as a multi-skilled operator within an FMCG environment
Willingness to work shifts in accordance with production requirements
Preferred Skills/Competencies
Ability to operate plant and process equipment effectively
Capable of conducting basic maintenance activities
Demonstrates commitment to safe and healthy work standards
Willingness to work scheduled shifts
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
