The Pre-Sales Engineer must ensure that he/she has a firm grasp of ADCxe2x80x99s Capacity and site technical specifications of each data Centre and should be the central source for this information. Develop a data base of this information so that it can be retrieved quickly when required.
The overall objective of the role is to assist the sales team in larger and more complex opportunities from a technical and commercial perspective: understanding the customer requirement, selecting data centres, halls, and allocating white space whilst checking capacity and resources required and managing ADCxe2x80x99s suppliers from a technical and commercial perspective.
Pre-Sales Engineer will be responsible for the scoping, development, implementation and pricing of technical solutions in terms of Electrical, Mechanical capacity and the White Space layout for customer requests that are deemed complex or require customization to meet the customerxe2x80x99s need.
The scoping responsibility entails engaging with the relevant sales representatives and, at times directly with our customers, to develop a sound understanding of their current business and technical challenges as well as the strategies that are currently employed xe2x80x93 these are all encapsulated in a problem statement. Further capabilities of the role pertain to how relevant aspects of customized solutions can be used to enhance existing products/services or develop new ones, thereby increasing the level of innovation in the Africa Data Centre product/service offering for its wider customer base.
Key Performance Area
Solution Design Architecture
Act as a member of an interdepartmental, highly skilled technical team responsible for all aspects of Complex Solutions designs from concept to development, implementation/integration, launch and on-going product management requirements. Directly project manage the responses to complex RFXs
Provide technical leadership and personnel management for the development and support of Complex Solutions that will support all Sales segments.
Supporting Sales presentations, Bid Management, formulating business cases, and actively participating in external standards/regulatory organizations/bodies.
As a member of the Product teams, serve as a technical leader to assist in the development, implementation and integration of Complex Solutions and services.
Operations
Establish a framework for Complex Solutions proposals and monitor their success and opportunities for enhancements from a technical, commercial perspective.
Recognises areas for internal improvement and suggest plans for implementation.
Work with the operations team to hand over these completed solutions once completed.
Fulfilment
Feasibility and accuracy of the fulfilment of customer technical requirements by managing the technical relationship with all partners.
Creation and management of a short business case and feasibility process to address short turnaround time for complex Bids/RFPs/RFIs
Reviews and coordinates signoff on complex solutions from relevant departments
Ensure Complex Solutions are completed timeously and to the customer requirements
Cross Functional Engagements
Researches and understands industry specific technology/digital trends including disruptive technologies and industry best practice
Consult and provide input to the development team on new design projects and remedial work based on customer feedback and customer implementation project experience.
Provide training to the sales team on available solutions and services that could be offered to customers
