Job Description

To design, develop, test, and oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and components in compliance with relevant standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop electrical systems for buildings, equipment, or infrastructure. Prepare electrical drawings, technical specifications, and bill of materials. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., SANS, IEC, NEC). Conduct load calculations, fault level analysis, and voltage drop studies. Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines during project execution. Supervise and inspect electrical installations on-site to ensure workmanship quality. Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems. Assist in project planning, cost estimation, and procurement of materials. Maintain accurate records of engineering work and support documentation for quality audits. Provide technical support during tendering, construction, and maintenance phases.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc or equivalent). Registered ECSA as a Professional Engineer - No technologists or candidates 3-5+ years of relevant experience in electrical design, installation, or maintenance (depending on level). Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, Dialux, or similar). Familiarity with High voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) systems.
