Reporting to the Digital Innovation function, the Power System Design Engineer will play a key role in the end-to-end design of low-voltage AC and -48V DC power systems for telecom and remote sites. The role focuses on producing high-quality, buildable design packs, ensuring compliance with international standards, and supporting delivery teams through construction and commissioning.

Role Responsibilities

As a Power System Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:


Producing complete power system design packs, including single line diagrams, cable schedules, earthing layouts, panel drawings, and bills of materials Designing LV AC and -48V DC systems for grid, diesel generator, hybrid (DG + PV), and battery energy storage solutions Performing core electrical calculations, including cable sizing, voltage drop, load assessments, and protection checks Ensuring designs comply with relevant IEC and BS standards, embedding safety-by-design principles Supporting project and site teams by responding to technical queries and assisting during construction and commissioning phases Maintaining accurate design documentation, version control, and structured data within document management systems Contributing to continuous improvement of design templates, tools, and digital engineering processes

Requirements for the Role

To succeed in the role, you will have:


A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience) 3-8 years' experience in LV/ELV power system design, preferably within telecoms or remote site environments Proven experience delivering complete, reviewed, and approved electrical design packages Strong working knowledge of -48V DC power systems, diesel generators, earthing, lightning protection, and surge protection Proficiency in AutoCAD (Electrical) and/or EPLAN with disciplined drawing and revision control practices Solid understanding of IEC and BS electrical standards applicable to LV systems Strong analytical, organisational, and documentation skills with high attention to detail

Desired Skills

Experience with PV and battery energy storage system design tools Exposure to digital engineering, data-driven design processes, or automation scripts Familiarity with document management systems and structured engineering data Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams
