Job Description
The SAMRC's Environment and Health Research Unit (E&HRU) requires an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position is associated with three-year research project CliMMetA (Climate, Muscle function and Metabolomics in Africa), funded by the Medical Research Foundation in the UK. This is a multi-site project across three countries - The Gambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The individual will be jointly supervised by the study co-principal investigators from SAMRC in South Africa and the University of Bristol in the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with co-ordination of study activities and tasks
- Data processing, analysis and writing scientific manuscripts and reports
- Create research translation outputs such as policy briefs and media output

Remuneration
R350 000 per annum
- A PhD qualification in epidemiology / public health / biostatistics / data science/ medical statistics or related relevant field
- Evidence of excellent data analytical skills, with proficiency in STATA or R
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Code 8/10 driver's license
- Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
