Job Description

A well established wood product and casket manufacturing company based in Phoenix , Industrial Park seeks to employ the services of a Pleating Machine Setting Operator.

Job duties and responsibilities include;



Set the pleating machine according to product design and specification requirements. Ensure that the correct fabric, parchment paper or board is used for pleating Check that the thumbscrews or levers are adjusted correctly and accurately on the pleating machine Use the correct measuring equipment to check that the pleats are set at the correct width as per product requirements Check the temperature settings on the press rollers of pleating machine to ensure it is set at the right temperature and adjust were necessary. Load or place roll of material on the correct side for pleating on the entry end of the pleating machine Draw the end of the fabric through the guides, pleating knife and or pleating rollers on the machine correctly and evenly Laps end of fabric around take up roll or guides end into box Starts machine and observe pleating for conformance to specifications. Thread material between layers of paper to prevent heated rollers from scorching material. Tend machine that attaches waxed thread to edges of material to hold pleats in fabric. Tends machine that sews pleats in drapery panels: Position folded pleat under presser foot and starts machine that stitches L-pattern to secure pleat. Tend machine equipped with jig that forms pleat prior to sewing. Lay Fabric on the pattern and fold creases to form pleats Rolls pattern with fabric inside into cylinder preparatory to steaming process. Tends one or more machines that fold and press pleats into materials, such as cloth, paper, plastic, or parchment: Turns thumbscrews or levers to adjust pleating knife according to width specified for pleats and for distance specified between pleats, and to adjust temperature of pressing rollers. Places roll of material on rod at entry end of machine and draws end of fabric through guides, pleating knife, and between heated pressing rollers. Starts machine and observes pleating for conformance to specifications. Thread material between layers of paper to prevent heated rollers from scorching material. Tend machine that attaches waxed thread to edges of material to hold pleats in fabric. Ability to read, understand and identify blueprints and materials needed for each job Determine the correct pleat height, count and length from blueprints, or patterns Set up and operate pleater machines Operate pleat compactor machine to compact pleat packs (if necessary) Comply with standard work practices and SOPs Use measuring equipment to include but not limited to calipers to inspect parts. Meet quality expectations, inspect work for conformance Segregate nonconforming or suspected nonconforming material real time and notify supervisor Keep area organized and clean Monitoring and checking product quality Assembling air filter products with a line team. Manage and control waste Comply with standard operating procedures Report unused or damaged fabric to the Supervisor Complete all necessary safety inspection on the machine before running production Cut boards to the correct size and dimension of the product. Collaborate with Supervisor to ensure desired product is achieved according to production plan requirements. Ensure daily targets are met on a daily basis. Working in other departments when required Following all safety precautions. Maintaining and retaining housekeeping standards in work area/ station timeously. Ensuring daily maintenance of all tools, equipment and machinery. Pack tools, equipment and other in the designated area once production is complete. Making sure that all work is carried out to required quality standards & specification. Adhering to all company policies & procedures at all times To clean and pack products in the designated area once production and quality checks are complete. Wear the correct PPE at all times whilst on duty. Assist in making of mock samples as and when required. Work overtime and on weekends as and when necessary.
