Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for the management and optimization of mechanical and pipelines operations engineering systems as well as asset life cycle management. They will also provide insight and experience in mechanical and pipelines field within Operations Division.
Minimum Requirements

• Mechanical or Civil Engineering Degree (NQF 7) or equivalent Engineering Degree or (National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with GCC Factories)
• 5 years Mechanical Engineering and Pipelines experience, preferably in water industry
• Project Management experience
• Professional registration with ECSA will be an added advantage
• Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite)
• Code 8 drivers licence

Primary Duties

• Testing and commissioning of major mechanical equipment and pipelines on sites
• Manage and advice on strategic stock for critical equipment on sites
• Initiate and perform plant and equipment condition monitoring analyses
• Optimize current pipeline configurations for energy saving and demand management
• Perform technical fault finding on plant equipment
• Research and advice maintenance staff on industry best practices to be implemented for plant optimization
• Implement quality systems for plant and equipment repairs
• Ensure projects are designed, implemented and generated in line with applicable Legislation
• Control and monitor contractors performing repair activities on plant and equipment

Knowledge

• Knowledge of pumps, valves and pipelines
• Condition monitoring of critical equipment
• NDT results analysis
• Project Management principles (PMBOK)
• Knowledge of legislation and regulations in water industry
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
