About the Role
Mainline is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pipe Jacking Supervisor to oversee trenchless pipeline installation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, supervision, and execution of pipe jacking works, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage pipe jacking crews on-site to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Interpret and implement construction drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
Monitor progress, productivity, and quality of works against project schedules and KPIs.
Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards in compliance with company and statutory regulations.
Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and ensure that all site personnel adhere to safety requirements.
Prepare daily progress reports, highlighting achieved milestones, resource utilisation, and any site issues.
Assist in troubleshooting technical challenges and contribute to continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate site teams.
Excellent technical knowledge of civil engineering construction practices.
Sound understanding of trenchless technology and, ideally, pipe jacking methods.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in problem-solving, decision-making, and maintaining site discipline.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and timely delivery.
Effective communication and reporting skills.
Qualifications & Experience
National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).
Minimum 5 years experience in civil engineering site supervision.
Pipe jacking/trenchless technology experience advantageous.
SACPCMP registration (Construction Supervisor / Manager) advantageous.
Valid drivers licence.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Achievement of project milestones within agreed timelines and budgets.
Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI) and full compliance with HSE standards.
Quality of pipe jacking works meeting specification and client satisfaction.
Effective management of labour, equipment, and material resources.
Timely and accurate daily/weekly site reporting.
Demonstrated problem-solving with minimal disruption to project progress.
