Job Description


We are looking for a qualified physiotherapist with medical and health services management experience to join our team and take on the role of facilitating the treatment and therapy of patients who suffer from physical challenges as well as to implement and coordinate the major health care services under the physiotherapy division; As a physiotherapist and medical manager, you would work with a variety of patients, helping them with recovery and therapy and improve the quality of care that patients receive by using your administrative abilities and problem-solving skills. Your JD will include but not limited to the management of the physiotherapy division and sub-divisions with focus on leading this department to help it deliver high-quality medical services. To be successful for this role, you should have strong interpersonal skills, good administration skills, management skills and strong knowledge of physiotherapy techniques. Ultimately, you should have a passion for helping people, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well within a team. Responsibilities:

  • Making assessments of patients' physical conditions.
  • Formulating treatment plans to address the conditions and needs of patients.
  • Conducting complex mobilization techniques.
  • Assisting trauma patients with how to walk again.
  • Educating patients, family members, and the community on how to prevent injuries and live a healthy lifestyle.
  • Referring patients to doctors and other medical practitioners.
  • Planning and organizing physiotherapy and fitness programs.
  • assessing the physical condition of patients and choosing an appropriate treatment plan based on the assessment,
  • implementing the said treatment plan and monitoring the patientxe2x80x99s progress as the treatment moves along,
  • prescribing suitable mobility aids to help patients with movement,
  • serving as a liaison between the patients and other related healthcare professionals if needed,
  • to ensure co-ordination of various clinical and support services so that functions are performed within a multi-disciplinary approach to promote optimal patients care,
  • to provide leadership to the medical / paramedical team and liaise with Senior Management Team on matters thereof,
  • ensuring that a full Primary Health Care (PHC) Package is provided with emphasis on newly introduced programs,
  • management of financial resources and ensuring cost effective services delivery,
  • participate in Human Resource strategies in the institution and ensure that development, training, and continued education of staff is achieved,
  • to provide leadership in the development of Rehabilitative service and related;
  • maintain optimal utilization of human resources and drive procurement of medical equipment,
  • performance management appraisals for all staff under the medical component of physiotherapy;
  • Participate in senior management and strategic activities
  • conduct clinical audits and reviews, provide clinical governance
  • develop clinical protocol and policies for medical services under the physiotherapy department and ensure that these are accordance with current regulations and guidelines.
  • promote effective communication and team approval within the entire physiotherapy component.
  • formulate strategic plans in keeping with the requirements of the physiotherapy component.
  • monitor and implement quality improvement plan of the physiotherapy component.
  • perform clinical duties as the institution demands within the physiotherapy component.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualification in physiotherapy including hydrotherapy with at least 10 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in the industry;
  • At least 5 years proven management experience in the industry related or similar;
  • Registered with the HPCSA and South African Society of Physiotherapy;
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain rapport with patients.

  • Good health and fitness.
  • Tolerance and patience.
  • Policy formulation skills.
  • Knowledge of current health and public service legislation and policies.
  • Sound clinical knowledge, experience in the respective disciplines.

  • Computer literacy.
  • Sound management, negotiation/ planning, organizing decision making interpersonal, conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge and clinical skills in medical disciplines and management skills.
