Job Description


Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organisation supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. MatCH is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following potential position under a new project aimed to strengthen the healthcare delivery platform for TB in the provinces of The Western Cape & Mpumalanga. Location: Paarl , Western Cape Province /Durban ,KwaZulu Natal Province Type of Contract: Fixed Term Contract Closing date for submission of applications: 4 December 2023 (applications received after the submission deadline will not be considered) Pharmacist x 1 xe2x80x93 (Ref: Acc-03) Main purpose of the job The primary purpose of this position is to provide Provincial, District and Facility Pharmaceutical support in the supported provinces and districts. Key performance areas

  • Provide technical assistance and support to MatCH supported provinces, districts, and facilities to improve compliance to legislative prescripts.
  • Pharmaceutical System Strengthening at PHC/CHC/Hospital level including Drug Supply Management, Pharmacovigilance (for first and second-line TB Treatment) and the PharmacoVigilance Monitoring System (PViMS), and Centralized Chronic Dispensing and Distribution as per National SOPs for the TB programme.
  • Policy/standard operating procedure development, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of pharmacy systems at Provincial and District Pharmaceutical Services, and at facilities xe2x80x93 PHCs, CHCs, and hospitals.
  • Designing and implementation of quality improvement Programmes at PHC/CHCs/Hospitals.
  • Designing of training material and providing training and mentorship to staff
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop and performance manage human resources.
  • Collaborate with other donor funded Supply Chain experts to optimize provincial and district supply chain management.
  • Support the roll-out of new formulations and new short DSTB/DRTB treatment regimens for children and adults e.g., BPAL-L.
  • Conduct audits to ensure the provision of quality services and adherence to national core standards and pharmaceutical standards required by the South African Pharmacy Council.
  • Assist District Pharmaceutical Services with rollout and sustainability of special projects.
  • Collation and interpretation of data; development of reports, presentations at meetings.
  • Any other assigned duties associated with the role.
Required minimum education and training
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in pharmacy.
Professional Body Registration
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council
Minimum work experience
  • 4 years appropriate experience after registration with SAPC as a Pharmacist
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an advantage
  • Experience working in a donor funded organization / NGO or project-based environment
  • Good knowledge of National Drug Policy, Essential Drug List, National Corew Standards and Good Pharmacy Practice
  • Experience in medicine supply management
  • Project management experience
  • Certification in basic HIV and GCP
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Report writing skills
  • Valid Driverxe2x80x99s License
  • Willingness and ability to travel
