Maternal, Adolescent & Child Health Institute NPC, (MatCH) is a non-profit organisation supporting public sector health services. MatCH implements donor funded projects to improve HIV and TB outcomes through providing technical assistance and direct service delivery support. MatCH is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the following potential position under a new project aimed to strengthen the healthcare delivery platform for TB in the Western Cape Province. Location: Western Cape Province Type of Contract: fixed term contract Closing date for submission of applications: 21 November 2023 (applications received after the submission deadline will not be considered) Clinical Advisor x 1 : (Ref Acc-12 ) Main purpose of the job: To provide capacity building, technical assistance and direct service delivery with clinical care and treatment for Drug sensitive TB (DSTB), Drug resistant TB (DRTB), co- infected HIV/TB and complicated cases including training, mentoring, clinical reviews and case management within the Province. Key Performance Areas (Technical Work Responsibilities) o Review, examine and treat complicated cases in respect of DSTB, DRTB and TB/HIV co-infected patients o Treat opportunistic infections diagnosed o Provide TB treatment and TB preventative therapy (TPT) according to DOH guidelines o Identify and treat patients with TB and HIV treatment failure o Facilitate transfers and up-referrals of patients with DRTB and /or complications o Capacity building, including ongoing training and on-site mentoring, for MatCH and DOH staff, Private Healthcare staff, traditional healers and community members o Participate in the assessment of clinical skills and training needs within supported Districts o Participate in developing training materials o Compile and submit reports to programme managers for submission to donors o Perform clinical / mortality / cohort audits and regular site visits o Act as a point of contact for the DOH site staff / supported staff o Liaise with internal and external customers / stakeholders o Effective self-management and performance ownership Required minimum education and training
o MBBCh degree or equivalent o Certification in HIV and TB Management Professional body registration
o Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) o Must have Health indemnity insurance cover Minimum work experience
o Minimum 6 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in public health, practicing DS TB, DRTB and HIV medicine Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities o Knowledge of managing public sector health program/s t o Knowledge of and experience in working and dealing with district and local health authorities o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint o Experience working in a donor funded organization / NGO or project-based environment o Experience in developing training materials and conducting training o Facilitation, mentoring, coaching and supervision experience (Training Skills) o Ability to prioritize work with competing demands on time and work towards meeting deadlines o Demonstrated excellent organizational, operational management, coordination, administrative and planning skills o Evidence of good communication: verbal and written, including report writing skills o Analytical and problem-solving skills o Proficiency in English and other African language/s spoken in the province o Ability and willingness to travel Please include the position title and reference number as mentioned on the advert in the email subject line when submitting your application.
