You will assist in maintaining payroll records, processing data, resolving queries, and supporting audits, ensuring the Payroll Manager has the information and operational support needed to deliver flawless payroll execution. As a Payroll Administrator, you will work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure all payroll processes are executed accurately and on time. You will assist with capturing payroll data, validating employee information, managing routine queries, and preparing reports.
You will act as a reliable operational support, helping to maintain data integrity, support compliance with statutory requirements, and ensure payroll runs seamlessly each cycle. Key Responsibilities
Assist with payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits
Maintain accurate payroll records and update payroll systems as required
Support bulk data uploads and validation
Respond to payroll-related employee queries professionally and efficiently
Assist with payroll audits to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies
Generate routine payroll reports to support Finance and HR teams
Ensure compliance with South African labour laws, payroll regulations, and company policies
Collaborate with HR and Finance to maintain seamless payroll operations
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel
Ability to manage large datasets with accuracy
Understanding of payroll compliance and statutory requirements
Problem-solving and troubleshooting in payroll systems
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and administrative abilities
Effective communication skills with employees and internal teams
Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively
Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive payroll information
Skills and Experience:
1-2 year's experience in payroll administration
Experience with payroll systems such as Sage 300 or similar
Knowledge of payroll compliance, statutory deductions, and reporting
Experience handling employee payroll queries
Qualifications:
Matric / National Senior Certificate (essential)
Certificate or diploma in Payroll, Accounting, or related field (preferred)
1-2 years' payroll administration experience
* Knowledge of South African payroll legislation, compliance, and tax laws
