Pavement and Contract Engineer (Pr.Eng) - Cape TownOur client is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm has a vacancy for a Pavement and Contract Engineer in its Transportation Infrastructure Division in Cape Town.Requirements:BSc/BEng degree in civil engineeringEng registration with ECSAMinimum 10 years of post-graduate experienceDesign engineer experience on national road projectsPavement design experience and strong technical knowledgeHave experience with Rubicon Toolbox, cncPAVE, MS Office SuiteKey responsibilities:Responsible for the general management of medium to large transportation infrastructure projectsResponsible for the project management and coordination of multi-disciplinary project teamsManage budgets, resourcing and outsourcing of project work within the service group, as well as agree project budgets with other sections on large projects comprising multi-disciplinary project teamsAuthor competent technical reports of outstanding technical qualityCheck work of all those in the project team and take responsibility for their workSupervise engineers or technicians in undertaking checks and inspections of constructed works for compliance with design and specifications, including monitoring and proposing remedial actionsClear knowledge of work procedures and ability to brief project team on themAssign work to othersRegular client contact and management of client relationshipsBuild sustainable relationships with clientsMarket technical capabilityAbility to make technical decisionsAbility to meet deadlinesFlexible and cooperative work styleExperience:Team leader experience that includes project planning, staffing and task managementProject management experience that includes client management financial management and scheduling managementGood presentation skills, ability to coach and motivate othersLeadership skills and ability to think strategicallyCompetency in pavement design, contract management, project management, professional development, client serviceAbility to meet deadlines and commitments and hold team accountable for team deadlinesAble to communicate effectively, both verbally and writtenManagement of technical teamsIn depth experience of government standards, codes and documentationKnowledge of OHS requirementsKey performance indicators:Overseeing and delivery of design standards at a specialist levelQuality and timeliness of reporting and other deliverables such as reports and drawingsPlanning of workload to meet deadlinesReporting to meet project and internal requirementsClient satisfaction with project deliveryCommunication
