The Pastry Demi Chef de Partie assists in the preparation, production, and presentation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role involves supporting senior chefs, maintaining kitchen standards, and learning advanced pastry techniques while ensuring consistency, creativity, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and produce pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked items according to recipes and presentation standards.
Assist the Pastry Chef de Partie in daily mise en place and production schedules.
Maintain cleanliness, order, and proper storage in the pastry section.
Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality and consistency.
Monitor and maintain stock levels, reporting shortages to senior chefs.
Assist in the creation and plating of desserts for service.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and HACCP procedures at all times.
Support junior staff and work collaboratively with the pastry team.
Take initiative to learn new skills and techniques in pastry and baking.
Skills and Qualifications:
Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts, Baking, or Culinary Arts (preferred).
1-2 years of experience in a professional pastry kitchen or bakery.
Strong knowledge of pastry fundamentals (e.g., doughs, creams, mousses, tempering chocolate, decoration).
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and maintain consistency.
Creativity and passion for pastry and dessert presentation.
Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and take direction.
