Sense Education is looking for an English South African Foundation Phase teacher to join the team. The applicant must be based in Cape Town. Sense Education offers English and Mathematics lessons for children in Grade R to 3 in small groups. We serve as an extension of what the children are learning at school. The classes challenge a variety of children to learn more. Interactive and fun classes are required to boost the childrenxe2x80x99s self-confidence. Our mission is to challenge children to help them reach their potential. About the role We are looking for a passionate English Foundation Phase teacher to teach English and Mathematics classes. Key responsibilities for the role: Be punctual when delivering lessons Deliver passionate and inspiring lessons to the children Pack the resources needed for the lessons, which are given to you to use Provide feedback or support to parents via email when necessary Fetch children from the aftercare classes or from the waiting points Look after the children who are not in aftercare and waiting for their class to start Write up a short comment at the end of each term for a report Attend meetings with the Sense Education team, when requested Attend training sessions to further skills Participate in advertising campaigns or send content for social media The teacher will be given a lesson plan and all the resources to use. Before the lesson, the teacher is only required to pack all the necessary resources for each lesson and make sure the lesson is understood to be able to teach it. This is a part-time position starting 17 January 2024. Payment starts at R120 per 45 minute lesson, but goes up a slidng scale according to how many children are in the lesson. The ideal applicant will possess the following qualifications and skills: An appropriate academic and professional education qualification from a recognised institution (preferably a 4 year degree in Foundation Phase). Strong communication skills in English Key attributes to succeed in the role: Passionate about teaching and care deeply about the success of each child Create an educational and inspiring atmosphere Willing to go the extra mile for the children and parents Good communication skills (verbal and written) Strong content knowledge, while willing to research to further your inspiration Excellent organisational skills and the ability to stick to deadlines Dedicated to your development as a teacher and furthering your skills Welcome constructive feedback, translating feedback into improvements in your approach or your lessons Manage and promote positive discipline within your classes Extra requirements Must be available on Mondays to Thursdays from 12:30 xe2x80x93 16:30. Some Fridays might be required. The timeslots are different for each day of the week but will be consistent throughout the term. It is around 3 lessons a day (+-3 hours). Have own car to travel to Durbanville and Century City area in Cape Town. Those shortlisted again will be required to teach a lesson to a small group of children to prove competency or send us a video of you teaching. Job Type: Part-time
