This client is seeking an experienced and strategic part-time Digital Marketer (+- 4 hours a day), with a proven track record of navigating the complexities of marketing regulated or sensitive products online. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimising their comprehensive digital marketing strategy across all channels, with a particular focus on compliance and innovative solutions within their niche market.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Digital Marketing: Develop and execute holistic digital marketing strategies aligned with business objectives, considering the unique challenges of marketing self-defense products.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all digital marketing activities (content, social, paid ads) adhere strictly to platform policies (e.g., Google Ads, Meta/Facebook/Instagram, TikTok) and international legal regulations concerning self-defense products. Stay abreast of evolving industry best practices for sensitive product marketing.
  • Website & SEO Management: Oversee the optimization of websites for SEO (technical, on-page, off-page) and user experience (UX), driving organic traffic and B2B/B2C conversions.
  • Content Strategy & Execution: Collaborate with team on the creation and distribution of high-quality, compliant content (blogs, videos, whitepapers, case studies) across all platforms, focusing on education, empowerment, and product benefits. Assist with visual design elements and ensure brand consistency.
  • Social Media Management: Strategically manage and grow their presence on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This includes content planning, scheduling, community engagement, and performance analysis.
  • Email Marketing: Design, implement, and optimize segmented email campaigns (B2B and B2C) via Mailchimp, focusing on lead nurturing, customer retention, and loyalty programmes.
  • Paid Advertising Management: Directly manage and optimize paid advertising campaigns across platforms such as Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Amazon Ads. Ensure all paid efforts are compliant and effective within platform restrictions. Experience with these platforms is highly valued.
  • Analytics & Reporting: Establish robust tracking, analyze performance data from all digital channels, and provide actionable insights and regular reports to senior management.
  • Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research, including exploring specialized data sources like NielsenIQ (understanding this is a paid service), to identify trends and audience insights, particularly within diverse South African income brackets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in digital marketing, with a demonstrable track record of successfully marketing products in regulated, sensitive, or niche markets (e.g., self-defence, firearms accessories, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of digital advertising policies and compliance challenges on major platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok) for sensitive product categories.
  • Proficiency in SEO best practices, content marketing, social media strategy, and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft compelling and compliant messaging.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Experience with CRM systems and marketing automation tools is a plus.
