About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to join our team as a

Counselling / Recovery Assistant

. The role involves supporting clients in their recovery journey, assisting with daily activities, and facilitating psychoeducation, individual, and group counselling sessions under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health challenges and recovery processes, particularly in the areas of substance use, depression, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia.

Key Responsibilities

Provide support during individual and group counselling sessions. Assist with psychoeducation workshops and recovery-focused activities. Write accurate

daily progress notes

on client interactions and sessions. Accompany and transport clients safely to appointments, community outings, and therapeutic activities. Support clients in managing daily routines and recovery goals. Work collaboratively with counsellors and the multidisciplinary team. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times.

Requirements

Minimum

Diploma in Counselling

(or related field). Valid

driver's license

and reliable transport (essential). Experience in working with individuals affected by

substance use

and/or mental health challenges. Knowledge of conditions such as

depression, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia

. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

Experience in group facilitation and psychoeducation. Knowledge of harm reduction and recovery models. Crisis support or de-escalation skills. Administrative or case management experience.
