ABOUT WFP
The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
In Mozambique, WFP has significantly expanded its operations over the last few years. The scale-up of its operations was due to two major tropical cyclones and a long drought that occurred in 2019, the escalation of violence and insecurity in the north of the country, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 onwards. In this context, WFP has been scaling up its humanitarian assistance, especially in northern Mozambique - where the conflict has intensified over the past few years and the security situation remains volatile - providing emergency food assistance to 1 million people in recent months.
Given the high level of funding needs and coordination and liaison required with various donors at the country level, WFP Mozambique is seeking individuals to join the External Relations unit as Partnerships Officers (CST I and II) to support resource mobilization efforts.
