Pallet Lead: Consumer and Retail
Role Outline
Centralized Control and Co-ordination of all CHEP and GLS pallets & Assistance with Inventory within the Consumer & Retail sector. and "making DHL a great place to work".
Key Responsibilities
Own the financial performance of the account - as per the operational, financial and investment plans
Achieve annual financial targets on the account
Manage the P&L of the account to deliver on the agreed target
Be the face of the operational delivery to the customer
Develop and leverage constructive C-Suite relationships with all the CHEP and GLS stakeholders (that are business and issue-based, as opposed to transactional)
Act as key contact for CHEP and GLS on a local level
Maintain access to key decision makers
Ensure quality of delivered services and proactively address issues across the sector
Develop a strategy and plan for CHEP and GLS Pallet Management across the sector
Report on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis on the CHEP and GLS account financial performance across the sector
Spend a high proportion of time on site working with the operational team to find efficiencies and cost reduction
Work effectively in a matrix structure with the operations leaders to deliver the day to day solutions and meet the annual and long term targets
Pro-actively identify opportunities within the CHEP and GLS accounts across the sector
Lead account planning meetings to identify supply chain requirements and business objectives
Maintain a theoretical record of all pallets on hand by accurately processing all THAN documents received or dispatched.
Updating the outstanding customer Record card and following up on all outstanding pallets in the trade.
Request confirmation on each month of Pallet balances from each Transshipment Depots and follow-up on discrepancies.
Liaise with Transport Management and arrange for pallets in the Trade to be recovered.
Ensure that there are sufficient PEN and THAN books in stock.
Continue to audit pallet control procedure on a regular basis across all sites
Check THAN control register and ensure CHEP (SA) personnel endorse register to acknowledge receipt of documents.
Ensure accurate control of inventory up to and beyond the KPI levels expected by the customer and DHL
Assist in the planning and management all stock counts and audits of inventory
Assist in the Development & maintenance of effective inventory processes, incorporating warehouse management systems
Assist in producing accurate stock Key Performance Indicator reports, analyze and recommend changes to Standard
Operating Procedures to enhance accuracy and operational effectiveness
Assist in putting in place procedures to monitor and minimize stock losses
Train team members to ensure that inventory control procedures are fully implemented
Produce timely and accurate management information & reports as required
Arrange a physical count, monthly of all pallets on hand at all depots
Built and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and establish customer network on a working level (coach network)
Organize and hold quarterly account review meetings with CHEP and GLS
Monitor KPIs, ensure quality standards and performance targets are being met
Act as key contact for CHEP and GLS, channel communication to internal functions coordinate actions in case of large operational issues
Coordinate the resolving of operational issues and push for process improvements
Collect and share knowledge and best practices (also cross-country)
Review input from opportunity team, ensure quality and commercial standards are met
Act as an interface between customer and DSC internal functions, collect and distribute required information
Analyze collected data together with operational experts and provide strategies for cost saving and efficiency
Qualifications/Experience
Grade 12 / Matric - Essential
Degree or equivalent qualification will be a distinct advantage More than 3 Years Logistics Sector experience
More than 3 Years CHEP Experience
More than 3 Years Operational experience will be a distinct advantage
Skills/Competencies
Good written and communication skills
Person should have a sound knowledge and understanding of a PC and the inherent controls.
Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills
Person should know what products are handled by the Company
Person should have a good understanding of quality as a key value
Operational knowledge and understanding of service delivery
Ability to understand instructions and to accurately carry out instructions - must listen effectively and convey ideas logically
React to customers in a courteous and professional manner and maintain at the highest level
Person should be able to propose different solutions to problems - must be able to act of their own without being urged to do so
