Paintshop Lab Technician

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Analyze all inbound solvent, paint, sealer materials for qualitative and quantitative properties using various laboratory instrumentation.

Ensure that all routine tests required by the BAIC SA standards process and documented accordingly.

Implement Quality control measure to ensure the accuracy and reliability of chemical analysis and parts evaluation.

Ensure that all the Laboratory instrumentation and facilities are maintained and calibrated. Escalate to the Supervisor for wear & tear, breakages, non-operational facilities or delays in fulfilling calibration requirements.

Responsible for maintaining the daily onsite working environment and doing 5S work diligently at all times.

Responsible for maintaining the Laboratory Management system for Quality, administrative and technical operations.

Responsible for ensuring compliance by controlling safety requirements for the laboratory and fulfilling the Municipal by-law requirements.

Responsible for liaising with internal customers and suppliers to ensure that the quality, cost and schedule standards of materials are adhered to.

Responsible for planning, implementing and controlling new work instructions and procedures for new test methods required.

Responsible for coordinating and maintaining all technical and safety data sheets for all materials used in Paintshop environment.

Comply with all rules, policies, procedures and Human Resources related matters, and conduct oneself in accordance with company rules, comply with Management requirements and complete other temporary work arranged by the leader outside normal production in a timeous manner and to instructions given by Superiors. Be willing to work outside normal working hours when required to.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



Grade 12 and National Diploma Chemistry or relevant Engineering qualification or equivalent

5 years of work experience in Automotive industry

3-5 Years of experience in Chemical analysis field

COMPETENCIES:



Good understanding and knowledge of laboratory protocols and testing standards

Good understanding and knowledge of SANS 17025 accreditation

Proven analytical and innovative approach to qualitative and quantitative analysis of products

Computer skills

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Ability to communicate at all levels
