Scope of Position:





The Maintenance Painter ensures that the standards of the hotel are upheld through responding promptly to queries and solving technical problems relating to the hotel building and its contents (e.g. fixtures, appliances, furniture).

Specific duties, responsibilities & Key performance areas



Financial: Satisfied Shareholders





Checking delivery notes against purchase orders and assuring complete accuracy of invoices Responsible for ensuring accurate stock control and month end stock takes of paint stores and sundries Controls usage of paint to minimise wastage.

Guest Centric





Possess and Model the Organizational Values as set out in the Grace Memorandum To ensure effective liaison between self and other departments To assist with the implementation of and encourage new ideas for improvement of the product and service To ensure that all work is carried out correctly, first time, every time, and in a friendly manner.

General





Has a thorough knowledge of the hotel and all services provided to the guest Maintains the high standard of service, appearance and social skills set according to the company policy Works in harmony with all departments and employees, is willing to assist others if and when required, Is familiar with all policies and procedures, house rules, fire, security and emergency procedures as well as all checklists pertaining to the position Performs any reasonable duty as instructed by the Maintenance department Perform daily checks on rooms, lighting and signage throughout the property Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of back of house areas Uphold health and safety regulations and assist with managing emergency procedures in the event of e.g.: blocked drains, burst water pipes, fire, electrical failures Be available for emergency call outs Fault finding and resolving Ensuring that all hotel equipment is in good working condition in order to prevent break downs and glitches

Health & safety



To ensure a safe and healthy environment for all guests and employees at all times. To keep the hotel and its contents in excellent condition at all times by setting up a planned preventative maintenance plan and ensuring its full implementation. Comply with all Health & Safety Legislation for the tasks in hand. To manage all aspects of life systems equipment. Maintain highest standards for the maintenance and safe operation of issued tools and equipment. To work in conjunction with the Health and Safety manager in ensuring that all Safety, health and environmental issues are addressed timorously. Manage and maintain requirements and keep systems in top operating condition. Co-ordination and management of all property maintenance and upgrade requirements as is needed To manage and ensure all maintenance colleagues utilize physical barriers or otherwise guard all hazardous conditions caused during the progress of a job until normal conditions are restored. Replace permanent guards or other safety devices that have been removed from the equipment, before leaving the job. To always maintain good housekeeping during progress of work by all maintenance colleagues. At the completion of the job all surplus material shall be removed and the area worked in returned to a normal, clean and safe state. Assists and co-ordinates together with the Security manager proper Fire & Safety training for all colleagues of the hotel.

Guest Centric



Strives to keep all business units and related entities in the best condition for customer service, ensuring that preventive maintenance is taking place and recommends projects for improvement to the General Manager To resolve immediately guest concerns, as well as the underlying causes to increase guest satisfaction. To assure consistent, high quality fabrics, furnishes and equipment which satisfy customer expectations for comfort and functionality.

Talent & Culture Responsibilities



Establish on-going On Job Training Programs within the department to meet Brand and Service Standards. Use Department Procedure Manuals as a base for all service procedures training. Monitors standards relating to presentation, punctuality and attendance supporting appropriate action when these procedures are not being adhered to. Manages and executes all recruitment, training and development of the talents across the F&B Function meeting mandatory training requirements and individual development plans. Conducts training for talents, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with the maximum efficiency and productivity. Ensures that all talents are treated fairly and consistently as outlined in their terms and conditions of employment, local legislation and company policies and procedures. Holds and ensure that monthly one-to-one's meeting, probation reviews and appraisals are conducted in a timely manner. Monitor the on-boarding of new talents to ensure they are positively welcomed and supported into the team.

General/ Administration



Be familiar with the hotels employee handbook and have an understanding of and enforce the implementation of the hotels policies and procedures in particular those relating to fire, hygiene, Health and Safety. Ensure that you and all talents have a complete understanding of, and adherence to, the company rules and regulations and in particular the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety. Respond to any changes in the department as dedicated by the needs of the industry, company or hotel. Be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other duties and responsibilities including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required. Maintains all hotel records and forms required for audit purposes and as prescribed by local management and policies. Ensure that all departmental reports and correspondence are completed punctually and accurately. Ensure that the guest profiles are maintained and kept up to date at all times respecting Data protection laws. Be flexible with your schedule in accordance with the business need. Undertakes Duty Management shifts as required, being fully aware of the Duty Manager Job description.


Qualifications

Education: Diploma / Certificate in in Mechanical or Electrical.


Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar role.


Other: Should be able to communicate well in English.
