Our client in the Agricultural industry is currently looking to employ a Packhouse Technologist based in Addo.

Requirements:

• 2 yearsxe2x80x99 experience citrus packing environment.
• Experience in systems/ process development.
• Exposure to citrus sorting equipment and software.
• Leadership experience advantageous.
• Technical qualification in Industrial Engineering, IT or similar.

Attributes:

• Thorough knowledge of citrus fruit varieties, quality standards, and grading procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret sorting manuals and configuration documents.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues related to sorting machines.
• Familiarity with sensors, actuators, and other automation components.
• Ability to train and support packhouse staff on sorting technology and procedures.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform precision work.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills for maintaining records and reports.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency maintenance situations.
• Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Responsibilities and expectations but not limited to:

• Responsible for overseeing the technological aspects of the packhouse, the technologist ensures the proper functioning of sorting, grading, and packaging equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement and maintain cutting-edge technologies, such as automated sorting systems and quality control machinery.
• The packhouse technologist is also involved in optimizing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and uphold product quality standards.
• Their duties may encompass troubleshooting technical issues, training staff on equipment usage, and staying abreast of industry advancements to recommend and integrate improvements.
