Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Operator Agitator to be placed in Tharisa Mine Project. The successful candidate will report to the Batch Plant Supervisor. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Safely operate an Agitator to move concrete from surface to underground, or only underground, in line mining and driving standards, procedure and safety protocols
• Safely and efficiently load, transport and discharge concrete in line with regulations and company standards and procedures
• Signal team members to warn of intended operation
• Maintain the workability and homogeneity of the concrete whilst in transit
• Conduct pre-inspection, complete checklists and clean the agitator according to standard after each loading and discharge to prevent concrete from hardening in the mixer and on the agitator
• Conduct basic equipment maintenance, escalate damage / deficiencies timeously to supervisor
• Comply with lock out procedures
• Pack and store spare material according to set standards
• Participate in daily/weekly safety toolbox talks / meetings
• Assist with sweepings and housekeeping activities
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation, escalate and report timeously
• Comply with company standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
• Effective self-management in alignment with company values

Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent
• Agitator Operator Certificate (OEM or registered training provider
• TMM skills program certificate
• Valid C1 driver's license
• Competency B Certified [If not obtained, obtain in-house]
• Competency BA Certified if carrying explosives (site specific) [if not obtained, obtain in-house]
• Dover / VTS Level 2 (Orange)
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
• Computer literate, ability to complete online training courses
• Ability to work in a team
• Good English verbal and written communication skills

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Agitator Operator in an underground mine
• Minimum 2 years of experience on an underground mining site as a PTV / miner assistant or similar role (preferred)
• Working knowledge of concrete additives and aggregates
• Understanding of various concrete products and mixes for different applications
• Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
• Sound understanding of BOOYCO / PDS [Proximate Detective Systems] advantageous
