What will you do as an Operations Transport Controller?

The Operations Transport Controller will be responsible to handle the loading operations of the terminal to ensure all terminal and gantry activities are done safely and efficiently thereby contributing to improved controls.

What do we expect from you as a Operations Transport Controller?

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Must)
• Operations/Logistics Certificate will be advantageous
• Must have experience as a Senior Operator
• A minimum of 3 years work experience in Operations/Shipping/Transport Processes, ability to understand operations infrastructure and philosophy
• Must have exposure to environment that uses process automation in a terminal environment
• Must have an understand of and ability to apply and follow the health and safety regulations (OHS Act) in the workplace

What does your day look like?

Some of the operational elements of the Operations Transport Controller include:

• Effective stock control to ensure: Stock gains / losses are within accepted norms / standards to minimize stock variances
• Ensure High customer service level & Assist in resolving all customer queries / problems expediently thereby contributing to improved customer perceptions
• Ensure product movements are accounted for and Bill of Ladings (BOLS) are recorded on shift
• Management of human resources, including staff performance management, industrial relations and development.
• Control the Drivers of the transport contractors particularly regarding misconduct, e.g. spillages & adherence to processes and procedures

Your core responsibilities are:

• Prepare incident / accident reports and perform regular gantry inspections for non- compliance by Drivers to work instruction, housekeeping and vehicle operating requirements to ensure a reduction in incidents and compliance to transport legislation
• Control product receipts via road by checking tank capacities, correct pumping and completing relevant documentation to ensure no contamination of the tanks and effective stock and quality control
• Assist in controlling operational crises and problems pertaining to the depot by activating contingency plans and advising all affected parties so as to avoid any unnecessary disruption of the operational activities in the terminal
• Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the Shift Leader or Terminal Manager
• Assist in the SHEQ of the terminal to ensure constant adherence and compliance to the companyxe2x80x99s standards, any local by-laws and government legislation so as to minimize all risk pertaining to the companyxe2x80x99s assets and stock, an excellent corporate citizen, remain operational and ensure the safety of all people
• Participate in SHEQ committees, safety meetings, emergency drills
• Ensuring the highest awareness and application of SHEQ standards on a constant basis due to the serious risk and impact an incident can have on the company, both internally and externally (e.g., lives of people, company image, working capital, assets, legislative, environment and social-factors)
