The Operations Technician is responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company's technology systems, across one or more projects that may have different technology components. This role ensures that project equipment functions effectively and meets customer requirements. The ideal candidate will assist in both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks while maintaining records of maintenance activities. The Operations Technician may be assigned to work in the field, Deport or in the control room. Location is determined based on operational requirements.
Front end: Camera Operations:
The duties shall include but not be limited to:
Assist in the installation, and maintenance of equipment such as fixed CCTV cameras, mobile camera devices, point-of-sale device, and related infrastructure.
Support in conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure all equipment is in working order.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the systems, including connectivity and hardware failures.
Maintain detailed logs of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
Work closely with the in-house technology teams to ensure optimal system functionality.
Assist in updating and replacing outdated or faulty equipment as required.
Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols during maintenance activities.
Support compliance with local security and privacy regulations where applicable.
Support:
The duties shall include but not be limited to:
Respond to service requests and emergency maintenance calls as needed.
Inspection of equipment enclosures, equipment and sites and reporting of any issues.
Maintaining the equipment by cleaning and authorized minor repairs of the equipment on a regular basis.
Regular sites visit as required.
Hardware inspection and set-up.
Ensure that all assigned calls are resolved within the agreed timelines and updated and/or closed out timeously.
Be available on a standby basis after hours, weekends and public holidays as required.
Installation:
The duties shall include but not be limited to:
Assist with camera installation as required including plinths, poles, signs, and cabling.
Vehicles:
The duties shall include but not be limited to:
Ensure that vehicles are serviced regularly.
Daily inspection of the vehicle and reporting of any damage or repairs needed e.g., rust on vehicle or accidents.
Ensure proper control and use of company vehicles.
Ensure that the Company Fleet Policy is strictly adhered to.
General Administrative Duties:
The duties shall include but not be limited to:
Ensure that the attendance register is always up to date.
Ensure that all front-end operations helpdesk calls are logged daily.
Ensure logbooks are completed with every trip.
Ensure that accidents are reported within 24hours of the occurrence to SAPS and Fleet Manager.
Provide any front-end related reports as required.
Ensure that all client interaction
Education and Experience
Matric, NQF equivalent or NQF Level 4 or higher.
Minimum five years prior experience in maintenance operations relating to CCTV, Freeway
Management Systems, Automatic Fare Collection Systems, Advanced Public Transport
Management Systems, Fleet Management, Point-of-Sale or other business types underpinned by technology solutions.
Ability to drive.
