: Operations Manager - Community Hub (Cape Town, Long Street)



Salary - R15 000.00 + (Commission)



Position Overview:



The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Church's Community Hub, ensuring that all services - from daily meals to counselling, training and outreach is delivered with excellence, compassion and efficiency. This role requires a strong leader who can co-ordinate and lead volunteers, manage resources, and keep multiple projects aligned with the mission to love, uplift, and restore dignity to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Program Oversight



Manage all hub programs including. Daily Meals - Organize procurement, preparation, and serving of meals. Counselling & Emotional Support - Co-ordinate schedules for counsellors, volunteers, and emotional support services. Clean Clothing - Oversee the clothing bank, donations, inventory, and distribution. Life Coaching - Ensure classes and sessions run smoothly with trained facilitators. Job Tools & Training - Arrange computer access, CV printing, interview prep workshops, and training sessions. Daily Outreach - Lead consistent engagement beyond Sundays through street outreach, events, and activations.

2. Volunteer & Staff Management



Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for cooking, counselling, clothing, and teaching. Manage scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage across all activities. Provide encouragement, training refreshers, and conflict resolution support.

3. Operations & Logistics



Oversee kitchen operations, stock control, and compliance with food safety standards. Coordinate facilities maintenance and cleanliness of the hub. Organize resources (furniture, equipment, IT tools) for classes and counselling rooms. Schedule hairdressers, restaurant-style meal services, and other specialized support.

4. Community & Partner Engagement



Build relationships with local donors, NGOs, and service providers. Coordinate with churches, businesses, and volunteers for donations of food, clothing, and training materials. Represent the hub to the community and partners in alignment with church values.

5. Administration & Reporting



Maintain attendance, meal counts, and service delivery records. Track donations, expenses, and volunteer hours. Prepare monthly reports for leadership on impact, challenges, and resource needs. Ensure compliance with safety, health, and safeguarding regulations.

6. Key Skills & Competencies



Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to manage diverse teams of staff and volunteers. Compassionate and people-oriented, with strong conflict-resolution skills. Excellent time management and multitasking abilities. Knowledge of food safety, event coordination, and community outreach. Strong communication and networking skills.

7. Qualifications & Experience



Minimum of 3-5 years in operations, hospitality, non-profit, or program management. Experience working with vulnerable communities is preferred. Computer literacy (MS Office, scheduling systems, basic reporting). Valid driver's license (preferred).
