Job Description

The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for delivering impact on the most critical performance gaps across our site in Port Elizabeth. This will involve the development and the deployment of the Operational Excellence strategy in line with TechOps and Quality strategic goals, aligned with the OpU Opex goals and strategy whilst executing strategic projects across quality, safety, service, cost and people dimensions.

General Duties

Represent the department during inspections and audits On OpU level, you will coordinate OPEX / Transformation programs in line with the OpU strategy and goals. On site level, you will execute site diagnosis and assist on the elaboration of improvement roadmaps - Diagnose, Design, and Develop tactical implementation plans (TIPs) - to drive impact and solve our sites most critical problems. Monitor deliverables and performance metrics (e.g. financials) Help site to build up high impact transformation skills and mindsets based on specific booster events co-led by you (using internal Kabi excellence methodologies) Roll out global OPEX standards at the site, particularly mandatory elements, across the network. This includes owning elements of the operating system, developing standards, and managing the administrative processes of the OPEX team, such as maintaining the OPEX SharePoint.

Budget & Cost Control

Develop and control the financial budget for the department Control and optimize the cost within the department Set quality and performance KPI's for the department and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency Continuously improve processes to introduce World Class Manufacturing practices within the business Develop strategic roadmap for the department to meet market and business requirements for the present and future conditions. Identify opportunities for operational excellence and efficiency improvements.

People Management

Ensure development and training as required. Ensure best working practices within the department Set quality and performance KPI's for the department and monitor the departmental performance on a defined frequency

Quality Management

Oversee the development, implementation of and the adherence to the Quality Management System. Ensure compliance to all QM controlled processes and documents Represent the department during inspections and audit


Science degree; preferably BSc Industrial Engineering, B. Pharm/BSc or Operations Management. At least 10 years production experience at a Senior Management Level Strong management experience Strong manufacturing process understanding Experience in continuous improvement techniques Can-do attitude Extensively Trained in Lean with experience in Operational Excellence Transformation and process improvement projects Experienced on site diagnosis and improvement roadmap based on bottom-up transformation methodologies & practices * High level of business acumen to deliver a strategic perspective combined with strong project management capabilities to identify the strategic, operational, organizational, and financial levers that will deliver sites impact.
