The Operational Analyst will provide support to the Western Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role involves conducting detailed analysis of various key aspects within the business, including financial and operational areas (in collaboration with Western Engineers and Project Admin). Additionally, the analyst will handle cross-departmental matters and assist with various reporting responsibilities, such as annual returns and monthly metrics. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential for success in this position
Responsibilities:Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and interpret operational performance data, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics.
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and improvements for metrics and operational reports.
Coordination of Cross-Departmental Collaborations:
Facilitate cross-departmental collaborations on initiatives such as business continuity plans, office logistics, and data management.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with stakeholders, including process engineers, from different departments to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Coordinate the implementation of solutions to enhance operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce costs.
Risk Assessment:
Assist in identifying and assessing operational risks within Western's processes.
Develop risk mitigation strategies and monitor their implementation.
Documentation and Standardisation:
Develop and maintain cross-departmental procedures to ensure documentation and standardization.
Skill sets required:
Degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, preferable a CA(SA) or CIMA.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, BI).
Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, enabling effective conveyance of complex information to stakeholders.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven experience as an operational analyst or in a similar role within the insurance industry.
Familiarity with data visualisation software.
Knowledge of insurance operations, processes, and regulations.
